Software Developer – Back-End
JOB SPECIFICATION
Location: At our offices in Victoria Quays, Sheffield, S2 5SY, UK
Salary: Competitive
Reporting to: Solutions Architect
The role: We are looking for an experienced “back-end” developer. In this role, you will play a key role in a development team under the guidance of a solutions architect meeting DeeperThanBlue’s business requirements, principles and best practices.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development and support for enterprise-grade e-commerce websites (HCL Commerce/IBM WebSphere Commerce) using Java, JavaScript, SQL, REST and APIs
- Mentoring and guidance of junior developers
- Migration of legacy applications to modern container-based microservice architectures
- Effective time management, and an ability to deliver to deadlines working in a Scrum methodology
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, in a role which will be regularly customer facing
- Ability to work collaboratively with both local and offshore teams and developers
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 4+ years development experience
- Up to date programming experience with at least one of:
- Java, C#, Python, Node.js, C++, Typescript, Swift, Objective C, Ruby
- Working with containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes)
- Git in a team environment
- Mentoring of junior developers
PREFERRED
- One or more cloud container platforms (e.g. Red Hat OpenShift, Google GKS, AWS EKS, Azure AKS)
- Interacting and developing with SQL databases (e.g. IBM DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL)
- REST API development
DESIRED
- E-Commerce development experience
- Linux command line
- Development in microservice architectures
- Working in an agile/Scrum environment
